FOX has ordered two new seasons for The Simpsons for the 2024-2025 broadcast cycle. This animated comedy series will extend its standing on television as the longest-running scripted series in history, surpassing the astounding 800-episode milestone with this season 35 and 36 extension. Also, the series presently ranks among the Top 10 comedies for the 2022–23 season, marking its fourth time.
The series centers on a family that exhibits all the modern-day dysfunctions but has a 1950s demographic: two married parents, two preadolescent children, a newborn, living grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Along with The Simpsons, two of the other staple comedies of FOX, Family Guy & Bob’s Burgers, also got two-season renewals.
“With this trio of renewals, we celebrate excellence in animation on Fox, our wonderful, long-time partnership with 20th Television, and the brilliant creators and incredible voices behind these forever favorites,” said Michael Thorn, Fox Entertainment’s president of scripted programming in a statement.
“Three-plus decades of ‘The Simpsons,’ more than two decades of ‘Family Guy’ and over a decade of ‘Bob’s Burgers’ proves the enduring power of the animation genre on our network and the infinite fan affinity for these outrageously funny comedy classics,” he added.
