FOX confirmed an early renewal of its upcoming original series Grimsburg ahead of its first season premiere set in 2023. The announcement came from Michael Thorn, President of Entertainment, FOX Entertainment. With this, the show joins Krapopolis, another brand-new animated comedy from FOX Entertainment, which also got a season two renewal last week.
“Grimsburg is yet another clear example of our strong commitment to, and intense focus on, upholding the high bar of standards any show must exceed in order to reside under the Animation Domination banner,” said Thorn. “Of course, having Jon Hamm’s talent and star power front and center is a great place to start. Equally important, everything we’re seeing with Grimsburg – from the very first scripts and show bible to animatics and preliminary cuts – makes us believe we have a winner on our hands that beautifully complements our animation brand.”
The series centers around Marvin Flute (Hamm), who has the title of the best detective ever. He even once caught a cannibal clown and effectively recognized a mid-century modern armoire. However, he still struggles to uncover one mystery, his family.
The creators of Grimsburg are Catlan McClelland and Matthew Schlissel, who also act as co-executive producers. The executive producer and showrunner are Chadd Gindin. Along with acting, the Emmy Award winner Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Confess, Fletch) also executive produces. Along with Connie Tavel, The Jackal Group’s Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady serve as executive producers. The studio is Bento Box.
