Unveiling a fresh trailer for “World on Fire,” the war drama masterminded by Peter Bowker, renowned for his work on “The A Word.” The series is set to make its debut on PBS on Sunday, October 15. Offering a unique lens on World War II, the show delves into the lives of ordinary individuals entangled in the conflict from various perspectives. This upcoming season, encompassing seven episodes, will navigate the war’s inception, starting with the German invasion of Poland in September 1939 and culminating in the pivotal Battle of Britain.
The cast boasts esteemed talents such as Lesley Manville, Jonah Hauer-King, Ahad Raza Mir, Mark Bonnar, and Gregg Sulkin. In 2019, PBS partnered with the BBC for the drama’s second season, starring Helen Hunt as a war correspondent. While Season 2 has debuted in the U.K., audiences have recognized the absence of Hunt, Sean Bean, Arthur Darvill, and Brian J. Smith, attributed to scheduling complexities and evolving plotlines. The production of the second season encountered pandemic-related challenges.
