First Three Seasons Available to Stream on Hulu
Proving vampire roommates might be forever, FX’s What We Do in the Shadows has been renewed for fifth and sixth seasons, it was announced today by Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX Entertainment. The series will be coming soon to Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.
“There’s a lot of life left in our favorite vampires from Staten Island and FX couldn’t be more thrilled to commit to two additional seasons of this phenomenal series,” said Grad. “What We Do in the Shadows excels on every level, from the brilliant cast and surprising guest stars to the producers, writers, directors and crew. We can’t wait for everyone to enjoy season four, knowing that the next two are on the way.”
In its first two seasons, What We Do in the Shadows received 10 Emmy(R)Award nominations, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series. Season 3 is currently eligible for Emmy consideration and recently earned three Critics’ Choice Award nominations, including one for Best Comedy Series.
What We Do in the Shadows, based on the feature film by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, documents the nightly exploits of vampire roommates Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their human familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillรฉn).
Season four of What We Do in the Shadows premieres with two back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, July 12 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and streaming the next day on Hulu. The teaser trailer is available now.
Executive Producers are Paul Simms, Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi, Stefani Robinson, Sam Johnson, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush. What We Do in the Shadows is produced by FX Productions.
In the shocking season three finale, Nandor, Guillermo and Nadja left Staten Island to go their separate ways while Laszlo stayed home to care for the creature that clawed its way out of the chest cavity of the deceased Colin Robinson – aka Baby Colin. This season, the vampires return to Staten Island to find their mansion on the verge of total structural collapse – and with no money to repair it. While Nandor’s eternal search for love finally yields results, Nadja finally realizes her dream of opening the hottest vampire nightclub in the Tri-State Area. Laszlo struggles with the question of nature versus nurture as he tries raising Baby Colin to be anything other than an energy vampire. And even Guillermo finds himself on a powerful emotional track that touches on his love for his family, and for others.
With such terrifying locations as the secret supernatural Night Market, the Jersey Pine Barrens and a wedding altar, and with more strange beasts, surprising guest stars and tap dancing than ever, season four of What We Do in the Shadows continues to make the case for blood and comedy. And this time with just a touch of home renovation.

Based on the feature film of the same name from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, What We Do in the Shadows is a documentary-style look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of four vampires whoโve โlivedโ together for hundreds of years. In Staten Island.
The self-appointed leader of the group is Nandor The Relentless (Kayvan Novak), a great warrior and conqueror from the Ottoman Empire, who has taken the helm of the group despite many of his Old World tactics resulting in what some might politely refer to as bupkis. Then thereโs the British vampire Laszlo (Matt Berry) โ a bit of a rogue and a dandy and a fop, he might say. Heโs a lover of mischief and a great soirรฉe, but not as much as he loves seeing Nandor fail miserably in every attempt. And then thereโs Nadja (Natasia Demetriou): the seductress, the temptress, the vampiric Bonnie to Laszloโs Clyde. Her wisdom and provocative tales from times past allow us insight into the many ups and downs of living an immortal life.
Also cohabiting in the vampire household is Guillermo (Harvey Guillรฉn), Nandorโs familiar (a.k.a. servant/protector during the daylight hours), who wants nothing more than to be made a real vampire just like his master. Also lurking about is Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), an energy vampire and day-walker of sorts โ he feasts on humans, but not on their blood. A frequent visitor is Nadjaโs new friend, Jenna (Beanie Feldstein), a student at a nearby community college. She loves LARPing, boys, and art history, and for some reason has been rather confused lately as to why it is she so ravenously craves the flesh of the living.
After an unexpected visit from their dark lord and leader, Baron Afanas, the vampires are reminded of what they were initially tasked with upon their arrival in Staten Island over a hundred years ago โ total and complete domination of the New World. But what exactly is the best way to go about achieving said domination? Our vรฉritรฉ camera crew follows along as the vampires set out to answer this query.
Clement created the 10-episode first season of the series. Clement, Waititi and Paul Simms are Executive Producers with Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush. What We Do in the Shadows is produced by FX Productions and stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillรฉn and Mark Proksch.
