Co-showrunner Marguerite MacIntyre has confirmed that Vampire Academy will not be returning for a second season, despite rescue efforts.
In a social media post, MacIntyre expressed her gratitude to fans for their support and explained that the show’s cancellation was not due to a lack of effort.
NBCUniversal Television and Streaming’s Chairman of Entertainment Content, Susan Rovner, later explained that the show was canceled because Peacock’s intended demographic for young-adult content wasn’t coming to the platform yet.
However, MacIntyre remains confident that the world of St. Vladimir’s Academy will live on, even if she is not the one to do it.
The series, which is based on Richelle Mead’s book series, starred Sisi Stringer, Daniela Nieves, Kieron Moore, André Dae Kim, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Jonetta Kaiser, Andrew Liner, Rhian Blundell, and J. August Richards.
