Peacock announced the cancellation of the fantasy horror series Vampire Academy after its first season. The creator Julie Plec used a tweet thread to reveal that they are currently looking for a new home for the series. Also, Jonetta Kaiser, who played the magical vampire Sonya Karp, took to Instagram to share the news about the cancellation.
I, too, am grumpy. This is a romantic, exciting, addictive show with a breakout cast, a passionate fan base and legions of story left to tell. Business is business and streamers have to find what works for them, but if youโre a network with a need for a vampire show, weโre avail. https://t.co/Ccrzydcvjr

The changes to CW’s schedule come at a bad moment for the cancelled series because that network would have been a natural place to shop the title. Unfortunately, there is little evidence that Peacock shows can succeed on other networks. One of Us is Lying, Queer as Folk, Saved by the Bell, and Punky Brewster are just a few of the shows that the streaming service is infamous for canceling before their scheduled end dates.
The series follows Dhampir Rose Hathaway at the boarding school Vladimir’s Academy as she trains to be a guardian and her friendship with Moroi princess Lissa Dragomir. Along with Kaiser, it stars Sisi Stringer, Daniela Nieves, Kieron Moore, Andre Dae Kim, J. August Richards, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, Rhian Blundell, and Andrew Liner.
Plec and MacIntyre, Jillian DeFrehn, Emily Cummins, Don Murphy, Susan Montford, and Deepak Nayar are EPs of Vampire Academy. Bille Woodruff is the director of the pilot. Also, Plec, Luis Prieto, Jesse Warn, Erica Dunton, and Geoff Shotz are other series directors.
