After its cancellation on Netflix, Showtime has picked up the romantic dramedy series Uncoupled for Season 2. The series follows Michael, a real estate broker in New York City who must start over at age 40 after his boyfriend abruptly breaks up with him and vacates their shared apartment. It stars Neil Patrick Harris, Tisha Campbell, Brooks Ashmanskas, Tuc Watkins, Emerson Brooks, and Marcia Gay Harden.
Strong reviews and a 73% Rotten Tomatoes critical approval rating greeted its debut on the platform on July 29 last year. Nevertheless, Netflix cancelled the program last January since it did not attract a large enough viewership. Following its release in August, “Uncoupled” debuted in the Netflix Top 10 chart at No. 5. However, it didn’t have much staying power, only spending one week on the list of most popular titles.
The executive producers are Starr, Richman, Harris, and Lilly Burns. Along with Darren Star Productions, Jeffrey Richman Productions, and Jax Media, MTV Entertainment Studios produces.
