About Suburra TV Series
The third and last season of Suburra โ The Series, the Netflix original Italian crime thriller produced by Cattleya โ part of ITV Studios โ and Bartlebyfilm, will be available from October 30 in over 190 countries.
Started in 2017 and conceived from the beginning to tell the profane trinity - Church, State, Crime - over three seasons, the first original Netflix series comes to its epic final act.
If the first season revolved around the Vatican and the acquisition of lands in Ostia for the construction of a port and the second season was centered on the competition for political power over the city with the election of a new mayor, the final act will have the streets of Rome as the only stage in a battle full of twists and unexpected alliances to get the throne of the Rome.
The protagonists of the first two seasons are back: Aureliano (Alessandro Borghi), Spadino (Giacomo Ferrara), Amedeo Cinaglia (Filippo Nigro), Samurai (Francesco Acquaroli), Manfredi Anacleti (Adamo Dionisi), Sara Monaschi (Claudia Gerini), Angelica (Carlotta Antonelli), Nadia (Federica Sabatini), Alice Cinaglia (Rosa Diletta Rossi), Adelaide Anacleti (Paola Sotgiu), Cardinale Fiorenzo Nascari (Alberto Cracco) and Adriano (Jacopo Venturiero).
After the tragic suicide of Lele, unable to live with the guilt of the crimes he had committed, and the unexpected awakening of Manfredi, head of the Anacleti clan, from his coma, the balance of power among all the characters is once again uncertain. The third season unfolds among the streets and alleys of Rome to reveal its world of crime from up close. With the election of the new mayor of Rome and the rise of Cinaglia in the Capitol, the Suburra is set in motion again. The world "above" and the world "below" must come to terms to share the greatest deal of the new millennium: the Jubilee. Aureliano and Spadino are ready to challenge Samurai again and claim the throne of the Eternal City. Who will win this fight to the death over who gains control over the city?
The direction of this third season is by Arnaldo Catinari, the story editing by Giancarlo De Cataldo and Carlo Bonini, the screenplay by Ezio Abbate, Fabrizio Bettelli, Andrea Nobile, Camilla Buizza and Marco Sani.
The series is written by Daniele Cesarano and Barbara Petronio with Ezio Abbate, Fabrizio Bettelli and Nicola Guaglianone and directed by Michele Placido (Romanzo Criminale, Vallanzasca - Angels of Evil), Andrea Molaioli (The Girl by the Lake) and Giuseppe Capotondi (The Double Hour).
Suburra, based on the fascinating and successful novel written by Giancarlo De Cataldo and Carlo Bonini, takes inspiration from a real political scandal that broke out in the Italian capital. Suburra is however a prequel, set a few years before the real events took place. Church, politics, organized crime, local gangs and real estate developers collide and blur the lines between the legal and the illicit and their quest for power is the overriding theme in this unique crime thriller.
The main cast includes Francesco Acquaroli (Pasolini) as Samurai, Alessandro Borghi (Suburra, Don't Be Bad) as Number 8, Adamo Dionisi (Suburra) as Manfredi Anacleti, Giacomo Ferrara (Suburra) as Spadino Anacleti, Claudia Gerini (The Passion of the Christ, Don't Move) as Sara Monaschi, Filippo Nigro (Facing Windows, A.C.A.B) as Amedeo Cinaglia and Eduardo Valdarnini (Something New) as Lele Marchilli.
Produced by Cattleya, behind the extraordinary success of the series Gomorrah and Romanzo Criminale, and in collaboration with Rai Fiction, Suburra will be broadcast by Rai in Italy at a later time, after Netflix's global premiere.
