Netflix has unveiled a teaser trailer for Season 3 of “The Witcher,” featuring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in his final episodes before Liam Hemsworth assumes the role in Season 4. Volume 1, comprising five episodes, will premiere globally on June 29, with Volume 2, containing the final three episodes of the season, set for release on July 27. In addition to Cavill, the series also stars Freya Allen as the princess of Cintra and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg. Season 3 will see Geralt taking Ciri of Cintra into hiding while Yennefer trains her in magical arts, only to find themselves on a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.
Cavill will leave “The Witcher” to reprise his role as Superman in an upcoming Warner Bros. film. He has expressed his gratitude for playing Geralt of Rivia and stated that he will be “laying down my medallion and my swords” for Season 4. Hemsworth, best known for his role in “The Hunger Games” film series, will take over the role of Geralt of Rivia in Season 4. Netflix’s head of U.S. and Canada scripted series, Peter Friedlander, assured fans that the series will continue to “honor the IP, the fans, the storytelling, all the way through” despite Cavill’s departure.
“The Witcher” is a television adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel series, created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The franchise recently released “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” a four-part prequel series starring Michelle Yeoh.
