BBC announced the second season renewal of the psychological reality competition series The Traitors. It is the BBC’s biggest brand-new entertainment launch in the past two years, with 34 million views on BBC iPlayer. It was also the highest-rated new entertainment series on the BBC since at least 2017 for young audiences and the biggest new series for young viewers across all BBC programs last year.
The Traitors features 22 strangers as they complete a series of tasks in the ultimate game of trust, backstabbing, and detection in the hopes of winning up to £120,000. The 22 are categorized into Faithfuls and an unspecified number of Traitors. The goal of the Traitors is to avoid detection and avoid being banished, while the purpose of the Faithfuls is to identify the Traitors in the group and banish them all before the conclusion.
“I can’t wait to go back to the castle to watch people play the greatest game on television. I’m knitting a high funnel sweater immediately,” Season 1 host Claudia Winkleman stated.
“We were delighted so many viewers of BBC One and BBC iPlayer loved the first season,” said Studio Lambert CEO Stephen Lambert.
“They told us they enjoyed the drama and entertainment of watching our players judge each other, often leaping to false conclusions, but also forming alliances and real friendships. We’re excited to be making a second season with Claudia as together we build on the success of the first,” he added.

About The Traitors TV Show
The Traitors is a reality competition series built on strategy and suspicion, filmed in the Scottish Highlands. A team of players will compete in a series of missions, the more missions they win, the bigger the prize pot.
However, amongst the players lie the ‘Traitors’. The Traitors will meet in secret and decide who to eliminate from their fellow players known as a ‘Faithful’. The aim of the Traitors is to stay undetected until the end of the game.
Whilst trying to avoid being eliminated, the Faithfuls must figure out who is a Traitor and vote them out so they can take the prize money for themselves. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they are in with a chance of taking home the cash prize. Throughout the season, there will be twists, turns, and surprises for the players.
