There won’t be a second season of The Midnight Club on Netflix. The news came as Mike Flanagan and his producing partner Trevor Macy switched their overall deal from Netflix to Amazon.
The Midnight Club did not appear to be a breakout hit in Netflix’s Top 10 charts, most of the time remaining in the middle and quickly dropping out. Its first season premiered on October 7. It’s unclear whether the cancellation by Netflix was only due to Flanagan’s exit from his overall contract or it was also performance-based; in the latter case, Flanagan might have been able to complete a second season before departing for Amazon.
Flanagan went to Twitter to express his disappointment over the decision. Also, he offered the fans of the show the answers to their questions.
I'm very disappointed that Netflix has decided not to pursue a second season of THE MIDNIGHT CLUB, but as promised, here are the answers to the unresolved mysteries of season 1 (along with our plans for season 2) https://t.co/GtNNVkgTX5

The Midnight Club is a series adaptation of the book by Christopher Pike. The series follows a group of five terminally sick young men and women residing at Brightcliffe Hospice, a mysterious mansion with dark secrets. They met at midnight and shared tales of intrigue and horror. One night they agree that whoever passes away first will do everything possible to get in touch with the others after death.
Flanagan and Leah Fong co-created the series. Flanagan and Macy, with Julia Bicknell and Pike, served as executive producers.

About The Midnight Club TV Show
The show is set in the 1990s at Brightcliffe, a hospice center for terminally ill teens. After long days of treatment and therapy, they gather at night to form “The Midnight Club,” sharing scary stories and raising toasts to those no longer with them. They’ve also formed a pact to try to communicate with each other after death.
The format combines a bit of anthology horror through their story sessions with a creepy and dramatic metaplot. Are there ghosts haunting the halls of Brightcliffe or are the apparitions just conjured by their fear and pain medications? As the members of the club become a family, they share stories about themselves and seek ways to save each other.
