ABC has decided to cancel the longest-running live-action network comedy series, The Goldbergs, after season 10. The season finale episode, set to release on May 3, will serve as the series finale.
“We are so proud of the 10 years we were able to spend with The Goldbergs. This is an incredible team and we’re so thankful for the joy and entertainment they brought to so many over this time. We look forward to celebrating their final chapter along with the fans in the weeks ahead,” said Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu, and Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals.
After 10 seasons of huggies and snuggies #TheGoldbergs is saying goodbye. It’s been an incredible journey, filled with laughter, tears, and some seriously epic ‘80s style. Join us in celebrating the final episodes. pic.twitter.com/soFVe7RM3z

Sony Pictures Television produces the show, which has persevered through the exits of star Jeff Garlin as a result of several HR complaints. An 11th season became less likely due to ABC’s lack of control of the sitcom, dropping linear ratings, and expensive licensing fees for an aging series.
Also, Goldberg, the show’s creator, departed the project a few years ago after quitting his long-running overall deal with Sony Pictures Television in favor of one with Disney, where he is preparing a new version of The Muppets. The show has struggled to generate original storylines that resonate with viewers in the same way as the touching ones based on its creator’s adolescence because Goldberg and his home videos were no longer at the helm of the series.
The series, which already bid farewell to original star George Segal following his passing a few years ago, now stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, and Sam Lerner.
Happy Madison and Doug Robinson Productions, in association with Sony Pictures Television, produce The Goldbergs. Executive producers include Doug Robinson, Alex Barnow, Chris Bishop, Annette Davis, Mike Sikowitz, David Guarascio, and McLendon-Covey. Since taking over before Season 7 began, Barnow and Bishop have succeeded creator Goldberg as showrunners.

About The Goldbergs TV Show
Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up and peanut allergies, there was a simpler time called the ‘80s. For geeky and movie obsessed youngest child Adam (Sean Giambrone), these were his wonder years, and he faced them armed with a video camera to capture all the crazy.
The Goldbergs are a loving family like any other -- just with more yelling. Mom, Beverly (Wendi McClendon-Covey) is a classic "smother," an overbearing, overprotective matriarch who loves her delicious kids, but still rules this brood with 100% authority and zero sense of boundaries. Dad, Murray (Jeff Garlin) is gruff and sometimes oblivious, parenting with half his attention span but all his heart. Sister, Erica (Hayley Orrantia) is popular and terrifying, doing her best to cover up that she's the smartest of the clan.
Barry (Troy Gentile) is a passionate dreamer, who maybe dreams a little too big and who always gets the short end of the stick. Adam is the youngest, a camera-wielding future director who's navigating first love, and growing up with his family. Rounding out the family is beloved grandfather, Al "Pops" Solomon (George Segal), the wild man of the clan, a shameless Don Juan who's learning as much from his family as he teaches them.
