Netflix has announced the renewal of the political drama series, The Diplomat, for a second season.
The show premiered on April 20 and ranked number one on Netflix’s weekly global Top 10 TV English list. In its first weekend, it accumulated 57.48 million hours of views and appeared in the Top 10 in 86 countries.
The series is created by Debora Cahn and executive produced by Cahn, Janice Williams, and Keri Russell, who also stars as Kate Wyler. Further details on Season 2 are yet to be disclosed. Jinny Howe, the Vice President of Drama Series at Netflix, expressed excitement about the renewal and stated that the visionary team has more in store for fans.
Keri Russell expressed her thrill at returning for another round of the show, calling it a “fun” project. Debora Cahn expressed her delight at the success of the show and the opportunity to create another season.
