Netflix dropped the official trailer for the much-awaited fifth season of the critically acclaimed series, The Crown. At the TUDUM global fan event last September 24, the streaming service announced the season 5 renewal of the series. It premieres on Wednesday, November 9.
The lives of the royal family in the early to mid-1990s will be the main topic of Season 5. The plot centers on Charles and Diana’s turbulent marriage: they split up in 1992 and divorced a year later, in 1996, just before Diana was tragically killed in a car accident.
Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter, Downton Abbey) is transforming into Queen Elizabeth for the fifth season, succeeding Claire Floy and Olivia Colman.
