CBS announced the renewal of the drama series, So Help Me Todd for season two. The series has been a reliable performer for Thursday nights on CBS, averaging 6.3 million viewers throughout the seven days of live broadcasting and 7.4 million for the five weeks of cross-platform viewing.
The project suffered a setback when Geena Davis was replaced as the female lead opposite Astin early in the pilot stage. However, it persevered in the center of the pack until making a big pilot season finish with great testing results, landing a series order. Also, Elizabeth Klaviter replaced Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro, who signed as EP/showrunners for the pilot only.

“So Help Me Todd has charmed viewers with the incomparable chemistry between Marcia Gay Harden and Skylar Astin,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said in a statement.
“With the series’ unique blend of captivating legal drama, laugh-out-loud humor, and intriguing family dysfunction, it’s no wonder the audience continues to grow. I am delighted that these two inimitable characters and their entertaining banter will extend into a second season,” she added.
The show follows Todd as he unexpectedly pairs up with his mother, Margaret, on a case; she is shocked to discover herself properly impressed by — and proud of — his clever ability to snoop out information with his charm and broad tech knowledge.
Alongside So Help Me Todd, CBS also renewed series such as Fire Country, Ghosts, The Neighborhood, and Bob Hearts Abishola for the 2023-2024 season.
So Help Me Todd stars Skylar Astin, Marcia Gay Harden, Madeline Wise, Tristen J. Winger, Inga Schlingmann, and Rosa Arredondo. Along with Dr. Phil McGraw, Stuart Gillard, Jay McGraw, Julia Eisenman, and Elizabeth Klaviter, series creator Scott Prendergast also serves as executive producer.

About So Help Me Todd TV Show
Meticulous attorney Margaret Wright hires her talented but scruffy son Todd as her law firm's in-house investigator. As the black sheep of the well-heeled Wright family, Todd is a laid-back, quick-thinking, excellent former private detective who fell on hard times after his flexible interpretation of the law got his license revoked. Margaret's penchant for excellence and strict adherence to the law is at complete odds with Todd's scrappy methods of finding his way through sticky situations: by the seat of his wrinkled pants. When Todd inadvertently teams with his mother on a case, she's surprised to find herself duly impressed by -- and proud of -- his crafty ability to sleuth out information with his charm and his wide-ranging tech savvy. At last, Margaret sees a way to put her son on a suitable path to living an adult, financially solvent life she approves of, and she asks him to join her firm.
