Prime Video renewed Outer Range for a second season with a new showrunner. Charles Murray (Sons of Anarchy, Luke Cage) will replace the creator, Brian Watkins, as showrunner. However, there are no official announcements regarding the premiere date for the upcoming season.
The first season premiered in April and followed the Abbotts as they dealt with the abduction of Rebecca, their daughter-in-law. After its debut, the science-fiction Western series starring Josh Brolin was temporarily in an undecided state.
Outer Range centers on Royal Abbott, a rancher fighting to defend his family, and discovers a secret at the edge of Wyoming’s wildness. Besides Brolin, the cast includes Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie, and Will Patton.
The creator Watkins, in addition to Murray, is an executive producer for Amazon Studios alongside Brolin, Zev Borrow, Heather Rae, Tony Krantz, and Plan B Entertainment. Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ernest McNealey, and Brad Pitt are Plan B’s executive producers.
