Peacock recently announced the cancellation of the young adult drama series One of Us Is Lying. The series is an adaptation of the Karen M. McManus novel of the same name. It ran for only two seasons on the TV channel, even though the novel version was on the New York Times bestseller list for more than 130 weeks.
One of Us Is Lying follows five teenagers sent to Bayview High’s detention center. The mystery starts when only four students walk out alive, with one student found dead. Cooper, Nate, Addy, and Bronwyn are the four suspects in killing their classmate. They all, however, assert their innocence, and the plot centers on who is telling the truth.
The series stars Marianly Tejada, Cooper Van Grootel, Annalissa Cochrane, and Chibuikem Uche. Also, the cast includes Melissa Collazo, Barrett Carnahan, Jess McLeod, and Mark McKenna.
The mystery surrounding Simon’s death was resolved in the first season, and the second season continues where the first left off rather than picking up in McManus’ follow-up book, One of Us Is Next, which is set a year later.
For season two, Erica Saleh, who adapted the book and penned the pilot script for the television show, took over as showrunner from Elite co-creator Daro Madrona, who will continue to work on the series as an executive producer. Saleh, Jan Oxenberg, Molly Nussbaum, Bill Johnson, and John Sacchi serve as executive producers. Matt Groesch of 5 More Minutes Productions, who also worked on the pilot’s development, is also an EP.
