Despite the season two renewal news last May, HBO Max decided to pull the plug and cancel Minx. The series is not the first show to suffer this fate. It follows in the footsteps of the HBO Max animated series Little Ellen, the DC film Batgirl, and the reality shows The Big D on TBS and Season 2 of Chad.
The series was reportedly about to finish filming its second season when Warner Bros. Discovery announced the cancellation as part of its most recent cost-cutting measure. Additionally, the streaming service will remove the first season as the producer Lionsgate Television, plans to pitch the project to other outlets.
Minx centers on Joyce, an earnest young feminist who teams up with a low-rent publisher to produce the first erotic magazine for women. It stars Ophelia Lovibond, Jake Johnson, Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano, and Oscar Montoya.
The creator Ellen Rapoport also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Feigco Entertainment’s executive producers are Paul Feig and Dan Magnante. Goldenberg directed the pilot, while Ben Karlin and Rachel Lee Goldenberg both executive produce. Additionally, Johnson serves as co-executive producer.
