Although Maggie ends with a cliffhanger, the fans would not be getting a second season. Hulu canceled the rom-com series a few months after making its first season with 13 episodes available for streaming last July 6.
The first season revolves around the story of Maggie meeting a handsome stranger named Ben and getting a reading. She begins to see glimpses of her future intertwined with his. She allows herself to fall in love with Ben while predicting how it will end. Throughout the season, we see Ben dating Jessie and the trio experiencing hilarious ups and downs.
The show received a mixed review from the audience, receiving a 62% score from the critics and a 73% audience score from Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the response, the video streaming platform decided to cut short Maggie’s romantic fate and potential future with Ben (David Del Rio).
The series starring Rebecca Rittenhouse was initially set to premiere on ABC in May 2021, but Disney moved it to Hulu in January, ahead of its July debut. The cast includes Nichole Sakura, Leonardo Nam, Angelique Cabral, Ray Ford, Chloe Bridges, Kerri Kenney, and Chris Elliott. Justin Adler and Maggie Mull wrote and executive produced Maggie. Executive producers include Evan Hayes, Jeff Morton, and Natalia Anderson. 20th Television produced the sitcom, a division of Disney Television Studios.
