Fans of the Turkish romance film Love Tactics will rejoice as a sequel is set to premiere on Netflix on July 14. In the original movie, Asli, a high-end fashion executive, and Kerem, a playboy in advertising, embarked on a dating challenge to make the opposite sex fall in love and then break up with them. However, their plan took an unexpected turn as they developed genuine emotions and discovered the truth behind a friend’s heartbreak. The film concluded with them confessing their love for each other, supported by their friends.
The sequel finds Asli and Kerem in a happy relationship, but their tranquility is disrupted when Asli expresses her belief that relationships don’t necessarily have to lead to marriage. Surprised by Kerem’s agreement, Asli initiates a new game to make him propose to her. Her motive stems from the confusion of understanding why he would be unwilling to marry her specifically.
Love Tactics draws comparisons to the American romance film Two Can Play That Game, featuring Morris Chestnut and Vivica A. Fox, which ends with the lead characters falling in love and marrying. Netflix seems to be embracing the trend of creating sequels or multiple seasons for series, as seen with Alchemy Series 1 and 2, Squid Games Series 1 and 2, Xo Kitty Series 1, and other productions.
