Following the recent cancellation of FBoy Island, HBO Max also announces the cancellation of the ballroom competition series, Legendary. The first season debuted in 2020, the second in 2021, and the third premiered in May this year.
Legendary is a pricey show for a streaming service that cancelled its original unscripted orders earlier this summer, much like the Nikki Glaser-fronted dating series. The streamer said, at the time, that while it wasn’t ordering any new unscripted originals, it would consider renewing existing shows. However, considering that FBoy Island and Legendary are more expensive than the David Zaslav-run company would like to spend on unscripted shows, they decided to cancel the shows.
LEGENDARY HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN CANCELLED. THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED THE SHOW. ON TO THE NEXT…

The series followed various houses of fashion dancers as they competed in balls and fashion showcases to bag “legendary” status in the New York ballroom scene. It stars Dashaun Wesley as the MC. Also, the cast includes DJ MikeQ and celebrity judges Law Roach, Jameela Jamil, Leiomy Maldonado, and Megan Thee Stallion.
Executive producers of the series are David Collins, Rob Eric, and Michael Williams. Legendary hailed from Scout Productions. Also, the showrunners are Jane Mun and Josh Greenberg.
