The series stars Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chiké Okonkwo, Zyra Gorecki, Jack Martin, Veronica St. Clair, Rohan Mirchandaney, Lily Santiago, Josh McKenzie, Tonantzin Carmelo, and Michelle Vergara Moore.
Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan, Chris Hollier, Adam Davidson, Bryan Wynbrandt, Steven Lilien, Ken Woodruff, Arika Lisanne Mittman, and creator/showrunner David Appelbaum executive produce. Producing La Brea together with Keshet Studios are Universal Television and Australia’s Matchbox Pictures, both divisions of Universal Studio Group.
La Brea has had high ratings on NBC. Season 1 was the top new show of the fall season in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic when it began in September 2021. Moreover, it was the best drama of the entire 2021–22 television season. On September 27, the Season 2 debut attracted 4M Live+Same-Day viewers and a 0.49 demo rating. But like many high-concept programs, its popularity gradually waned. The second season has so far averaged 0.39 and 3.6M viewers.
The third season might be the conclusion for the series as they are already facing cancellation after season two. According to reports, there was a possibility of a writers and/or directors and actors strike, which influenced the decision for the renewal.
