Netflix has cancelled its original Turkish series If Only in the wake of the Turkish government demanding that the streamer remove a gay character from the script.
Netflix said in response to the cancellation:
“Netflix remains deeply committed to our Turkish members and the creative community in Turkey. We are proud of the incredible talent we work with. We currently have several Turkish originals in production, with more to come, and look forward to sharing these stories with our members all around the world.”
The eight-episode romantic drama in was initially announced in March and set for a 2021 premiere.
