Hulu has decided not to renew How I Met Your Father for a third season. This cancellation comes after Hulu also ended the popular comedy series The Great after three seasons and Disney+ made similar decisions by not proceeding with two new series and canceling Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. after two seasons, as part of broader content adjustments across Disney’s streaming platforms.
Executive producers for the show included Isaac Aptaker, Elizabeth Berger, Carter Bays, Craig Thomas (the creators of HIMYM), Pam Fryman (the original series director/producer), and Adam Londy, with Hilary Duff serving as a producer. The series was produced by 20th Television.
How I Met Your Father, a spiritual successor to CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, also featured guest appearances by original series stars Cobie Smulders (as Robin Scherbatsky) and Neil Patrick Harris (as Barney Stinson).
Nellie Andreeva provided additional reporting on this matter.
