Bad Crimes, a dark comedy animated series, will no longer be streaming on Netflix. The streaming service decided to pull the plug mid-production. Nicole Byer and Lauren Lapkus were supposed to lend their voices to the lead roles. According to the latest reports, the project is now being shopped around to other platforms.
The cancellation follows Mike Moon’s resignation, who oversaw adult animation at Netflix until he resigned in July. Billy Wee, the previous senior vice president of comedy and animation at HBO Max, replaced him.
The series follows two FBI agents named Kara (Byer) and Jennie (Lapkus) as they traverse the nation to investigate gruesome crimes while balancing their relationship, career aspirations, and as many men as they can.
Nicole Silverberg (Full Frontal with Samanta Bee) is the creator and executive producer. Dustin Davis, Judge, and Daniels are executive producing under the Bandera Entertainment name. Along with Byer and Lapkus, Erica Hayes (“Big Mouth” on Netflix) is also an EP.
