AMC is one step ahead and had already announced the season renewal of Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire ahead of its first season premiere this October 2. Although there is no specific date for its premiere, there is a confirmation that the second season will also have eight episodes. Earlier this month, anticipating fans also got a treat when the network released the trailer for the upcoming series.
The acclaimed 1976 gothic horror vampire novel of the same name by Anne Rice served as the inspiration for the television series. It describes a centuries-old vampire’s life as he described it to a journalist who was interviewing him. The 1994 film starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise was based on the book. This fresh interpretation of the story is a sensuous and modern take on the novel.
The cast includes Sam Reid (Belle) as the villainous Lestat and Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones) as the brooding Louis. The young newcomer Bailey Bass will be the bright child vampire Claudia. Also, it features Eric Bogosian (Uncut Gems) as the journalist, and Christian Robinson and Kaylne Coleman will have reoccurring roles.
Mark Johnson, the executive producer, said: “The opportunity to revisit the passionate and shocking world of Louis, Lestat, and Claudia is irresistible. We will happily walk through the doorway that AMC has so kindly opened for us and deliver a season two that takes full advantage of the wonders bestowed upon us by Anne Rice.”
