The comedy series Acapulco received a third-season renewal on Apple TV+. This new season will have ten episodes, and they will begin production in spring.
“We at 3Pas Studios are thankful to Apple TV+, the perfect home for ‘Acapulco,’ along with our production partner Lionsgate, filmmakers, and cast and crew. We have always believed that the stories we tell about our communities and cultures can resonate with global audiences, so crank up the AC, it’s about to get a lot hotter at Las Colinas Resort,” said star and executive producer Eugenio Derbez in a statement.
“We’ve seen an overwhelming response from audiences all over the world who have fallen in love with ‘Acapulco,’” said Morgan Wandell, head of international programming for Apple TV+.
“Eugenio, Austin, Ben, Eric, Kim, and the talented cast and crew behind ‘Acapulco’ have created a feel-good show that has a lot of heart, emotion, and laughs, and we can’t wait to bring even more of that into season three,” he added.
The sophomore season was a success, receiving praise and topping the list of the best shows to watch in 2022. Season two also got a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series follows 20-year-old Máximo Gallardo (Arrizon), who realizes his dream when he became a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco, Las Colinas. In 1985, Máximo had to deal with changes at the resort, unforeseen issues at home, and a new love interest who might be able to compete with the girl of his dreams. He sets his sights on becoming Diane’s right-hand man and plans to take over the entire Las Colinas operation under Don Pablo’s guidance.
Season three of Acapulco is a time for making amends for the past while welcoming exhilarating new beginnings. The older Máximo in our current tale finds himself returning to a Las Colinas he no longer recognizes. While in 1985, the younger Maximo keeps moving up the success ladder while maybe endangering all the relationships he has fought so hard to create.
In addition to Derbez, Enrique Arrizon, Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Perez, Chord Overstreet, Vanessa Bauche, Regina Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Rafael Cebrián, Carlos Corona, and Regina Orozco will also be reprising their roles.
