Netflix has cancelled the fan-favorite series Warrior Nun after two seasons. The news came a month after the streaming service released the second season. Showrunner Simon Barry was the one who confirmed the news on Twitter, as he thanked the fans, crew, and production team. The fans did not see this coming and are not receiving it well. They are expressing their frustration and disappointment over the decision on Twitter, making #SaveWarriorNun trending.
I’ve just found out that @netflix will not be renewing #WarriorNun – my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team. It was a privilege to be a part of this. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/eZIBa4tJYm

The second season rating performance of Warrior Nun follows the pattern of other scripted series cancelled by Netflix as the streaming service weighs viewing vs. cost when making renewal decisions. Season 2 spent three weeks in Netflix’s Weekly Top 10 for English-language series, peaking at #5. The small but devoted fan base that Warrior Nun has amassed helped the show get a second-season renewal, but it was not enough to keep the show going for very long.
The series premiered on July 2020, and its sophomore season premiered on November 2022. It centers on Ava, a young lady who awakens in a morgue with a fresh outlook on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She learns that she is now a part of an ancient order tasked with battling demons on Earth, as well as formidable forces from both heaven and hell that are out to capture and subjugate her.
Warrior Nun stars Alba Baptista, Tristan Ulloa, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Toya Turner, Thekla Reuten, Sylvia De Fanti, Emilio Sakraya, Olivia Declan, Joaquim De Almeida, May Simon Lifschitz, Dimitri Abold, and Charlotte Vega.
