Insiders claim that the decision was due to the declining state of the daytime syndication landscape. Also, in an effort to conserve money, station groups have also been increasing the amount of local news they broadcast.
From 1981 through 1993, Judge Joseph Wapner presided over The People’s Court on television. In 1997, the popular show returned with Judge Marilyn Milian as its host. Since then, the former Florida prosecutor has rendered verdicts in varying small-claims court cases and is the only Latina judge to have ever hosted a syndicated court show. Judge Milian hosted the show for 22 years, making her the show’s longest-reigning host.
