HBO Max decided to pull the plug for Issa Rae’s Sweet Life: Los Angeles after two seasons. With this series being the third cancelled unscripted series this week, along with FBoy Island and Legendary, the reality shows under the Max Originals banner continue to slim down.
The show, named after the 2012 Frank Ocean song Sweet Life, follows a group of Black 20-something friends while they pursue their professional and personal goals while residing in South Los Angeles. The series stars Amanda Scott, Briana Jones, Cheryl Des Vignes, Jerrold Smith II, Jordan Bentley, P’Jae Compton, Tylynn Burns, Rebecca Magett, Rob Lee, and Jaylenn Hart.
This series is the first to emerge from the overall contract WarnerMedia signed with Rae. The second project to result from Rae’s overall deal with WarnerMedia was the scripted comedy Rap Sh!t. In September, the show received a second-season renewal.
