To make the wait less painful for fans, Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the awaited sophomore season of Shadow and Bone. The streaming service announced the renewal two months after the first season debuted. Season 2 premieres on March 16 at 12 a.m. PT
In Shadow and Bone season two, Alina devotes herself to bringing down the Shadow Fold and rescuing Ravka from disaster. Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, and Ben Barnes, the main cast, will reprise their roles for the upcoming season. Promoted to series regulars for season two are Calahan Skogman, Danielle Galligan, and Daisy Head. Also, it will introduce new characters such as Patrick Gibson as Nikolai Lantsov, Anna Leong Brophy and Lewis Tan as the twin Heartrenders Tamar Kir-Bataar and Tolya Yul-Bataar, and Jack Wolfe as Wylan, a new Crow Club member.
“The most wonderful thing about Season 2 is that we get to advance the story of these characters that we’d left in precarious positions at the end of Season 1. There’s a lot of potential for them this season,” said co-showrunner and executive producer Eric Heisserer.
“They have to face the consequences for their actions, and then they get to meet new people along the way. The Grishaverse also expands in this season, both in mythology and in characters,” he added.
“We’ve also really dug into more of the mythology this season in terms of the amplifiers, but also the creator of the amplifiers, Morozova — who he was, what his backstory is and how he ties into this world,” co-showrunner and executive producer Daegan Fryklind stated.
