Netflix’s popular series, Sex Education, will soon come to an end. The streaming platform announced that the fourth season, premiering on September 21, will mark the conclusion of the show. In a newly released teaser for the upcoming season, Asa Butterfield’s character, Otis Milburn, remains as clumsy and unpolished in his speech as when he first started his journey as a sex therapist at Moordale Secondary School. During a speech to a group of college students, Otis humorously shocks them by admitting that his mother is the source of his knowledge about sex, much to their horror.
Returning alongside Butterfield for Season 4 are Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Mimi Keene, George Robinson, Chinenye Ezeudu, Dua Saleh, Alistair Petrie, Samantha Spiro, Jim Howick, Rakhee Thakrar, and Daniel Ings.
The news of the final season didn’t come as a complete surprise, as several main cast members had already publicly stated that they wouldn’t be returning for a potential Season 5. Mackey, in February, mentioned saying goodbye to her character Maeve, and earlier revealed that she would have a reduced role in Season 4. Gatwa, who stars alongside Mackey in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and is set to become the new lead on Doctor Who, recently finished filming his character Eric.
Season 4 of Sex Education also witnessed significant changes to the cast, with several actors leaving the series, including Rakhee Thakrar, Tanya Reynolds, Patricia Allison, and Simone Ashley.
