HBO Max announces the cancellation of Love Life after two seasons. The reasoning behind it is its recent cost-cutting measures, which also led to the cancellation of an extensive list of scripted and unscripted series.
Before HBO Max had a name, they ordered the anthology romantic comedy series in May 2019. Season 1 was released in May 2020, followed by Season 2 in October 2021. It features the first-season leading lady Anna Kendrick with William Jackson Harper starring in the second. HBO Max will pull off its first and sophomore seasons from the platform.
Love Life follows a different character in each season of the anthology series. It depicts how different relationships throughout their lives ultimately mold them into the people they are now. The first season stars Kendrick as the art curator Darby Carter. Also, season one stars Zoë Chao, Sasha Compère, and Peter Vack. Additionally, the second season followed publishing executive Marcus Watkins played by Harper. The cast for season two includes Williams, Punkie Johnson, and Chris “Comedian CP” Powell.
The show’s creator and co-showrunner, Sam Boyd, also serves as executive producer for both seasons. With Rachelle Williams joining as co-showrunner and executive producer in Season 2, Bridget Bedard served as co-showrunner and executive producer for both seasons. EPs include Kendrick, Harper, Paul Feig, and Dan Magnante. Lionsgate Television and Feigco Entertainment produce Love Life.
