Netflix cancels their upcoming superhero crime-action series, Grendel, which previously had an eight-episode order back in September 2021. A piece of sad news for fans waiting for the series adaptation of Matt Wagner’s Dark Horse comic book series. Despite this, there is still a chance for fans to watch this series as the producers are reportedly shopping the series elsewhere.
As previously announced, Abubakr Ali plays the title role, being the first Arab Muslim male actor to play a series protagonist in a comic book adaptation. Also, it features Jaime Ray Newman, Julian Black Antelope, Madeline Zima, Kevin Corrigan, Emma Ho, Erik Palladino, Brittany Allen, and Andy Mientus.
Andrew Dabb (Supernatural, Resident Evil) created the television series. This news is not the first cancellation of Dabb’s projects on Netflix this year, as his recent project, Resident Evil, suffered a similar fate. The streaming service axed it after its first season. Grendel is produced by Dark Horse Entertainment, along with executive producers Andrew Dabb, Matt Wagner, Keith Goldberg, Mike Richardson, and Chris Tongue. The Netflix executive who spearheaded the idea was Pete Corona.
