Apple TV+ confirmed the renewal of the award-winning series Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock for season two. The show is a reboot of Jim Henson’s beloved classic Fraggle Rock. According to reports, they have already started production in Calgary, Canada. Daveed Diggs will reprise his role in this upcoming new season, and there will also be new additions to the cast. Ariana DeBose, Brett Goldstein, and Catherine O’Hara will star in guest roles.
Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock follows Gobo, Red, Wembley, Mokey, Boober, and new Fraggle friends as they embark on hilarious, epic adventures. In season two, you will see them confront their past and celebrate their interdependence.
The series received three nominations for Outstanding Children’s or Family Viewing Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Live Action Single Camera Program, Outstanding Editing for a Single Camera Program, and a win for Outstanding Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design at the inaugural Children’s & Family Emmy Awards. Also, the musical comedy puppet series received a 100% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The series was also recently recognized for outstanding Children’s Programming by the Sentinel Awards.
The Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford, longtime Henson collaborator John Tartaglia, Matt Fusfeld, and Alex Cuthbertson are executive producers of the series. Harvey Mason jr. is the executive music producer, and Dave Goelz and Karen Prell are the co-executive producers. Also, Tim O’Brien and Chris Plourde contributed to the production. They produced in association with New Regency, with Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer executive producing.
